Intel’s upcoming 4th generation of Core family processors based on the “Haswell” microarchitecture will be launching in March next year with a new LGA1150 socket and three new chipsets – Z87 featuring plenty of connectivity and overclocking options; H87 which loses the overclocking options; and Q87, which offers just the essential connectivity options as well as several enterprise features.

Intel has a string of motherboards planned for release for the new platform. On the Z87 chipset we’ll see the Extreme Series and Media Series, with two boards in each series. The Extreme Series will consist of the DZ87KLT-75K “Kinsley Thunderbolt” which, as the name suggests, includes a Thunderbolt connector; and the DZ87KL-70K “Kinsley”, which lacks the Thunderbolt connector. The Media Series will have the DZ87CA-55K “Carryville,” and DZ87CO-50K “Colebrook”.

Lower down, the H87 lineup includes the DH87MC “Meadow Creek,” DH87RL “Round Lake,” and DH87FB “Flat Bay”; and the Q87 range includes just two boards at launch – the DQ87RG “Rainbow Ridge” and DQ87PG “Spring Cave”. The specifications are listed in the slides below. Source — ComputerBase
