Information on Intel’s next HEDT (high-end desktop) platform has been slow as of late, but according to a leaked slide it is slated for a Q2-2013 release. Codenamed Ivy Bridge-E, this range of Core i7 processor will be an upscaled Ivy Bridge based on the same 22 nm process but with more cores, cache and memory channels.

While Ivy Bridge-E will be fully supported by existing X79 Express-based LGA2011 motherboards, Intel may either launch a new stepping of X79 or a completely new chipset with new features such as native USB 3.0. Source — VR-Zone
