AORUS RTX 2070 XTREME Review

Hitman & Shadow Of The Tomb Raider

This is another game that’s evolved over time. Originally released in 2016, it has had several obvious visual upgrades, with the most recent bringing the game up to par with other modern titles. Oddly enough to experience the best visual expression of this game’s world requires you to own Hitman 2 which does away with DirectX 12 API support, but polishes the presentation allowing you to experience all the original game’s missions rendered with the latest iteration of the Glacier engine. That aside, the RTX 2070 Xtreme is more than capable of delivering 4K resolution gaming, delivering over 60fps in the game. Given the nature of the game and it’s slower pace, high frame rates aren’t necessary but most certainly appreciated.

This is one of thew oldest games to support the DirectX 12 API, but it wasn’t great at launch, delivering lower performance using this version of the API as compared to DirectX11. At this point, it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference with both API versions delivering similar performance. Artistically this title is stunning, but in terms of the bells and whistles that one would expect from a next gen title, it falls slightly short. It remains popular however, which is great for the RTX 2070 as it pushed out an acceptable 48FPS at 4K resolutions. Note how performance figure is only 10fps slower than what the RTX 2080 can deliver. It further narrows that down to just 6FPs at 4K reoslutions when the graphics card is overclocked. This is another fine showing for the AORUS RTX 2070 Xtreme.
