ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB SSD Review

ADATA isn’t new to storage and as we saw with the last GAMMIX S11 SSD, can produce some worthwhile storage solutions. As with all things though, if you’re not partial to such drives, be it because of the visuals or something else, there’s an alternative in the SX8200 Pro which for all intents and purposes is near identical to the Gammix S11 Pro. What this drive offers over the Gammix I’m not entirely sure, but even if it’s nothing, it still means great performance at a reasonable price. The SX8200 Pro features a 5-year warranty and/or a total of 320TBW, an SLC cache and peak read performance of up to 3,5GB/s. What’s not to like about that?
Clearly ADATA is strong when it comes to value orientated drives. I’m unsure what market segment this SX8200Pro is supposed to serve, but at its retail price it is a difficult drive to find fault with. I would suspect it’s greatest competition being from the ADATA XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro, which can be had for similar if not a little cheaper in some places.

In 2020, these numbers may not seem as impressive, but let’s not forget that there are still more people on the PCIe 3.0 platform than those using PCIe 4.0. As such, this level of performance is more relevant to many more people than the huge numbers put up by the newer Gen4 drives (at least for now).
