AORUS SSD – NVMe Gen4 SSD Review

Benchmarks

Crystal DiskMark & PCMark8

Prior to practical testing of the AORUS SSD, I doubted it would hit the 5GB/s mark and thought it would be closer to 4,900MB/s or so. To my surprise, the drive scored 5011MB/s and a little above the claimed 4,400MB/s in sequential writes. Seeing such high numbers for a single drive never gets old. Stunning sequential performance.

This is where things got a little more interesting. I was thinking it may be time to drop PCMark8’s storage test as it doesn’t seem to reflect what the other benchmarks do. That said, it occurred to me that PCMark8’s test is by far the longest in the suit and is supposed to stress the drive in many more varied scenarios than the other benchmarks. In essence testing general PC use and representing a more meaningful score, as opposed to a very narrow test case. These near identical scores rang true to my subjective analysis as well, which is that I can’t tell the difference in everyday use between these three drives.
