ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 9 Review

Software & UEFI

ASRock software suit is by all accounts basic. That isn’t necessarily a negative, as it makes it obvious to use despite the rather bland presentation. It simply works and you’ll not need a manual to figure use any of the functionality even if you’re new to the ASRock ecosystem. That said, the windows software has the same issues as other motherboard software suites exhibit (An application window that can’t be resized for example), but because of its simplicity you can overlook them. This sort of thing was never a deal breaker and certainly isn’t with the Phantom Gaming 9. More can be done of course, but what is there works well enough.

UEFI is identical to what is on their other boards, such as the Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX/AC, going back to previous generations.  It’s a familiar interface that’s managed to stay relevant, giving you just enough information to make navigating a breeze .

Board Lighting can be configured directly from the UEFI. Not comprehensive but functional.
