Slew Of Sandy Bridge Processors To Hit End-of-Life Early Next Year

As new technologies come along and yields increase, older technologies get retired as Intel is showing with the discontinuation of a slew CPUs. The majority of the Sandy Bridge range will be breathing their last breaths of air on March 29, 2013 for retail processors – a lifespan of a little over two years. Tray versions will remain available until 27 September, 2013.

The list of CPUs drawing their old age pension includes the Celeron G440, Core i5-2310, i5-2320, i5-2400, i5-2400S, i5-2405S, i5-2500, i5-2500K, i5-2500S, i5-2500T, i7-2600, i7-2600K, i7-2600S and i7-2700K. The 22 nm Ivy Bridge Core i5-3450 is also on this list, a processor which was released mere months ago. Source — techPowerUp
