Corsair Crystal Series 680X RGB Review
Noise & Software
Noise
The Crystal Series 680X is essentially an open-air case. That has several implications but most importantly or more immediate is noise. If you have a noisy pump (H115i Platinum in Extreme mode) and fans, they will come through louder than usual. Responsible for this are the side and front glass panels distance from the chassis. For the purposes of airflow, there are on standoffs with as much as two centimeters between the tempered glass and chassis. Fan control software here is an absolute must, fortunately then all board vendors have some sort of fan control application and if you have a Commander Pro you can just use that. (Another reason why the Commander Pro comes highly recommended).
Software
As is, the case makes use of iCUE or rather the LED fans do. All fans are plugged into a single channel, but they can be configured independently from each other. Naturally actual Fan control is done elsewhere (i.e. your board vendor’s software). ighting node supports two modes, one software and another hardware. The latter allowing more effects, but only when iCUE is running on the system. The hardware mode as the name implies, saving the lighting profile on the Node. In this mode you do not need iCUE running at all for the desired lighting effect.
Crystal Series 680X Software
There’s not much of anything else here really, iCUE remains the central hub of all thins CORSAIR and this is yet another addition to the growing list of hardware the application supports
