Not to be outdone by MSI’s Radeon HD 7970 Lightning hitting up to P16259 on the 3DMark11 Performance Preset using a single GPU, world renowned overclocker Vince “k|ingp|n” Lucido has beaten the score using an EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Classified 4 GB graphics card. k|ingp|n has laid down the smack with a new single GPU world record score of P16472 with the graphics card core clocked at an insane 2,002 MHz and the memory at an effective 7,406 MHz.
Vince has confirmed in a forum post that the reported 1.212v is “totally not correct”, and that it is “a bit higher” – of course, with this being the k|ingp|n himself, “a bit higher” could mean almost anything. His overclocking and benchmarking partner, “TiN”, has stated that not a single modification other than the EVBot (for higher voltage) was performed on the card.
The rest of the system specifications include an Intel Core i7-3960X clocked at 5.54 GHz at 1.611v with HyperThreading enabled, an EVGA X79 Classified motherboard, 16 GB of G.Skill RipjawZ DDR3-2400 RAM running at an effective 2,417 MHz in quad-channel with timings of CL10-11-11-31 T2 and an EVGA NEX 1,500w PSU. Cooling was taken care of by a k|ingp|n Dragon F1 Dark LN2 evaporator on the CPU and a k|ingp|n TEK-9 FAT 6.0 LN2 evaporator on the graphics card.
The result has been submitted to and verified by both HWBOT and the 3DMark Online Result Browser, or ORB. There are interested times ahead, as Vince has teased that the card may not be completely maxed out. Watch this space for further information!
