ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB SSD Review

AIDA 64 Disk Benchmark

I typically do not use this benchmark, but decided to add it into the testing suite with this drive as it does offer an interesting and more realistic  insight into drive performance. The benchmark echoes what other tests suites reveal outside of the peak performance numbers. The test below fills up the entire drive and takes anywhere between 20 to 30min depending on the drive performance and size.

AIDA64 Disk Bench Linear Write Test

I checked and double checked again, but for some reason the SX8200 Pro delivered the expected result while the 760P simply couldn’t produce any performance figures worthwhile by comparison. The sizable SLC cache on the SX8200 Pro obviously plays a massive role here and it shows. That said, the minimum write speed on the 760P was actually higher than on the SX8200 Pro. So in those corner cases, where you’re looking at worst case scenario, the 760P is actually faster, but those corner cases are rare.

In the general (quick) Disk Benchmark, the difference between the 760P and the SX8200 Pro is a lot less pronounced. Both drives delivering numbers well above the 2GB/s mark in just about every discipline. Had it not been for the detailed and lengthy linear write test above, one would think it’s a toss up between the two when that isn’t the case.
